Quick Guide to Microsoft FrontPage XP

Name

 

 

Login:

 

1) Double click FrontPage icon

2) Go to "File," "Open Web Page."  Then, type "http://www.sebsteph.com/producer" and enter "producer" for the username and "password" for the password when prompted.

3) Your folder list should appear on the left-hand side

 

Edit Documents:

 

1) Select a document from the folder list by double clicking a page icon

2) When it opens, edit the page like MS Word [click the save icon at regular intervals]

3) Close the page

 

Create Documents:

 

1) Click the new page icon at the top left of the screen [or the black arrow next to it to customize the page]

2) Add content

3) Click save and name the page [be careful to give the page a short tag line but an extended title name]

4) Move the icon that is created in the folder list into the appropriate folder [develop an organization system]

 

Access the Pages on the Web:

 

1) Open the Internet Explorer

2) Enter the URL [which will be http://www.sebsteph.com/producer]

3) To make it easy for students to navigate through your web, develop your links so that they spread logically outward from your homepage

 

Create Links:

 

1) Highlight any word or phrase or picture

2) Click the “hyperlink” icon at the top middle of the screen

3) Type the address where you want the link to go

4) Click okay

5) Save the page

 

Create Submission Boxes

 

1) Place the cursor where you want the box

2) Click the “Insert” icon at the top of the screen and select “Form” and “Textbox” or “Textarea”

3) When the box appears, you can stretch it out to no more than three inches wide and two inches tall

4) Right click on the submit key and select “Form Properties”

5) Remove the address in the “file name” blank and add your email address in the “email” blank

6) Click Okay and then right click the submit key once more, this time selecting “Form Field Properties”

7) Change the name without spaces and the value label [with spaces if you like]

8) Click Okay.  You can also change the name of the text box so that it’ll be easier to identify via email

9) For multiple boxes, cut and paste the first one at regular intervals.  Make sure that all are within the dotted field created by the first box
