Types of Pollution & How to Help
Jo'NeL Gholston

One of the greatest problems  that we have on earth is pollution.   It is through air, fire, thermal, and chemical reactions.  Pollution has changed the world as we know it now, but pollution is problem that can be helped with the help of people who will put forth an effort to make a change.

Air pollution is the contamination of the atmosphere by any toxic or radioactive gases, and particulate matter as a result of human activity. As we go into spring and prepare for Spare the Air 2000.  During the winter months our air pollution concerns revolve to particulate matter and carbon monoxide.  Ozone ceases to be a problem when daylight hours are short and temperatures are low.  During this period, we continue to provide the public with daily air quality forecasts, but ozone maps are discontinued -- they will reappear in May.

As smoke and fog cover the skies making them a dark greyish black color caused by fire.  Fire pollutes the air because the fuels shoot up in the air.   There are many different things we can do to keep fires down by professionals, such as Paramedics, Law Enforcement, Firefighters, and Safety Technicians, look to Crouch for our age old experience, Expertise & name brand products.
They use fire extinguisher, service and repair; emergency lights, service, and installation; and industrial safety products & needs.  To keep fires down use smoke alarms and get a fire extinguisher handy.  Also make sure not to leave matches or lighter around for children to pick up and play with.

The Earth is constantly bombarded by radiation from the Sun. The atmosphere protects the surface of the Earth from this radiation. It is possible that air pollution is causing part of the atmosphere to get thinner.  Scientists measure the ozone layer to see if it is getting thinner. With a thinner ozone layer, more ultraviolet radiation can pass through the atmosphere. This might cause more skin cancer, mutations, and global warming. Things that we can do to help the ozone layer you can by searching the internet.

Another type of pollution that pollutes the environment is called thermal pollution.  The wasted heat is discharged into water ways which raises the temperatures of aguatic environments enough to kill organisms and disrupt the ecosystem.  The waste that is heated is then discharged into, the air and can contribute to weather changes. The only way to manage thermal pollution is to spread waste heat over areas large enough to absorb it without significantly increasing temperatures.

Over two billion pounds of toxic chemicals are released by manufacturing firms into the nation's environment each year, including over  one-hundred and twenty-five million pounds of recognized carcinogens. Scorecard can give you a detailed report on chemicals being released from any of more than 21,000 manufacturing plants, or a summary report for any area in the country.

Automobiles can cause pollution in the air as well .  When peoples cars catch on fire the smoke from the fumes go up into the air causing the sky to look dark and grey color.  We can help this buy aking good care of our cars and getting them checked on a regular bases and by keeping them up.

We can see how bad pollution is and the things it can do to the environment. For an example  when a fire is started the smoke and fumes shoot into the air, radition from the sun, thermal, chemical pollution, and many other things causes pollutions.  With our people's help we can help our environment by getting involved and taking a stand to fight pollution.

Sometimes we need help and technology can help us to keep pollution under control.  An increasing need for basic knowledge of the contribution of pollution from the shipping industry in general or to ship categories or particular trades or particular pollution parameters. Furtehr, it has become a need for surveillance of trends and developments, and to make available a descission tool to evaluate future needs for regulation. Further, new regulations need follow-up on effects of rules/regulations itself. Also as a background for use in analyses such as shipping versus other transport means, competitive advantages, potential for improvements.

Introduction

Give me some background on the idea of pollution, Jo'NeL. How long has it been an environmental concern? an environmentalist concern? Develop this paragraph beyond three sentences. What's that thesis mean, by the way? That if we want to help, we are able to succeed in making a change? Clarify it.

Body_1

Develop this idea a little. I'm confused as to what exactly ozone maps are. Why does a contaminated ozone affect us less in the winter than it does in the summer? Wouldn't it just affect the other side of the world twice as much if it's affecting us half as much? Don't we all breathe the same air?

Body_2

Give me a transition from air pollution to fire and smoke pollution. Show me how smoke from fires directly affects the air we breathe. Don't end a paragraph with advice on what to do. End it by telling me why this idea is important to advancing the thesis you chose.

Body_3

Give me a transition between fire and smoke pollution and solar pollution. Is the ultraviolet radiation of the sun contributing to the depletion of an already weak ozone? Develop that. As for the conclusion, what exactly is it that people should be looking for in helping the ozone? More importantly, tell me how this idea of solar radiation is important to proving and advancing your point.

Body_4

How can thermal energy contribute to weather changes? Isn't the water that is evaporated into the atmosphere already hot enough to be in a gaseous state? If that's the case, then the fact that the water is boiling on the surface shouldn't affect the evaporation process sufficiently to contribute to weather changes. You might research this one.

Body_5

What is Scorecard? Develop that. Don't just tell me where I need to go to find information. That's what the paragraph you're writing is supposed to do. To have found and analyzed that information for me. Work on this one. Bring closure by telling me the importance of this idea concerning toxic chemicals to the thesis.

Body_6

Sure, but how often does a car catch on fire. You'd do better to use a different example here. Since you did use it you'll want to strengthen this idea with another one along the lines of gasoline use and how all this unleaded gasoline is bad for the atmosphere.

Conclusion

Don't bring closure by telling me again all the points you made in your body paragraphs. Bring closure by telling me the impact this issue has on society. Strengthen your concluding sentence by telling me why the thesis is important.
