These are the results of the first practice paragraph
sent by my 10:00 Developmental Writing II Students on August 27, 1999

S1:

In five years, I would like to have a steady job and
successfully completed almost all of my college education.
I am majoring in business, so I would like to be working
my way up the company ladder.  I would also like to start
settling down in a serious relationship.  I would like to
have traveled in Europe and Australia. 

S2:

In five years I want to be out of college and an owner
of my own business.  I have several things I would like
to do after college, but the one I want to have as my own
business is Web page designing.  I am taking courses to
give me the education so that I can start up, develop, and
run my own business.  I am already on track to have it
started as a business.  All that is left is for me to get
my training in the different fields of business management
and computer programing.  I am soon to get a job designing
pages with a friend which will give me invaluable experience
and training in the how to of web page designing.  So in 5
years I expect to be done with school and being my own boss
out in the real world with web page design.

S3:

There are many different things want to do in five years.I hope to have an apartment with a supported living arangment with some friends.  Another thing I want to acomplish would be having a job in classroom with kids with special needs.  I also want to be able to travel around the states and maybe even the country to speak about my disability. I want to be married by then hopefully have kids. Hopefully all these things will happen for me I'm hopeful that they will. 

S4:

I WANT TO BE WITH A COLLEGE DEGREE IN SOMETHING THAT WILL BE BENIFICAL TO MY LIFE.
A DEGREE WILL HOPEFULLLY HELP ME GET A JOB.  IN FIVE YEARS I WOULD LIKE TO BE WORKING
WITH PEOPLE AND GIVING THEM ADVICE.  I WOULD LIKE TO TRY THE PEACE CORP, AND I'VE
ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WOULD BE AFTER COLLEGE. IN THIS TIME I HOPE TO HAVE LIVED IN A
NEW STATE.  BEING IN A NEW STATE WILL HELP ME WITH PEOPLE AND EXPERIENCES.
ABOVE ALL I WANT TO BE A COMMUNICATER TO MYSELF AND MY FAMILY BECAUSE THEY WILL
BE THE ONES ALWAYS BEHIND ME IN ALL THAT I DO.  IN CONCLUSION, IN FIVE YEARS
I HOPE TO HAVE A DEGREE, BE ENLIGHTENED BY MY JOB, AND HEALTHY DAILY HABITS.

S5:

In five years I would like to be a graduate from college with a four year degree. 
Then I would like to find a good job that has a good pay and good benifits.  I would
like to have a husband by now and definatly be out from under my parents roof. 
I want to have a new car, because by then my car I have now will be really old.  I
don't know what kind of car I would like though.  In five years I don't want any
childern, because I want to be married for a while and have a good income.  This
is what I would like to have in five years and maby alot more exciting and interesting things that
will make my life fun to live.

S6:

In five years I would like to be out of college and working full time at the bank I currently work at. I hope to have an associate's degree in business adminitration and in a higher position at the bank.  After school is over with I would like to get married and later on have one or two kids.  Right now I am just find with going to school and working at the bank.  I love working in the business world even though i would not mind if I could travel the world taking pictures of animals for National Geographic or some other magazine.  Also after I am done with school I would like to take a trip anywhere that I have not been.  I have said to my friends and family that before I die I want to visit Hawaii.  I think that would be fun and I would have a wonderful time.  This is what I hope to be doing or would like to do in about five years.

S7:

In five years I would like to either be in the United States Coast Guard or getting my degree in Psychology.  After two years at Meramec I would like to transfer to Florida if I don't purse the military.  I think both options would be good for me but how to choose which one is the hardest decision that I have to make.  My future?  What will it hold for me?  The only person I can go to is God, but unfortunately, I haven't received any answers.  If I do purse the military, I plan on going to boot camp in Cape May, New Jersey, this summer.  I would like to make a career out of the military but at the same time I'm afraid of the military.  My brother, Chris, said that I would so fine but, being on my own, away from home scares me.  I'll let God decide for me because I know that he knows the right answer.

S8:

There is not one single place I want to be in
five years.  I hope to be in many places.  I hope
to have a secure job making too much money, so I
can spend it on things like a house or a new car. 
Also, I would like to travel alot.  That is bas-
ically all I am looking forward too.  

S9:

In about five years, I hope to be done with college,
and have a bachelors degree in Informations systems. By
then hopefully, I will have a decent paying job, and be
able to support myself. 

S10:

Five years down the road from now I hope to have a degree in aviation, that has been the goal for me for many years.  I have been learning about flying and working on airplanes for three years now, taking in all the information I can.  I want to graduate from Meramec with my pilot certificate, and join the United States Coast Gaurd to learn how to fly there planes.  I will use this education to try to fly for an airliner.
                                       
S11:

In five years I plan to be on my way to a succesful future.  Although I am not sure what I really plan to do in the future I do have alot of goals/dreams.  What I would like to do in the future is get a degree in computer something or other and hopefully  start a business someday.The main reason why I have the businees idea is because i can  ot stand working for people who do not respect you enough and pay you poorly. But thats life and until I get a degree I will just have to live with it.

S12:

In five years I would like to have graduated from college, have a child or two, and be happy with my choices so far.  I would hope that my husband is a sucsessful Chioropractor and has ten new clinics open.  I am sure of this last statement.   I would like to have a degree in psychology or maybe be a teacher.  I know that I do not want to be in the same situation that I am in at this moment in my life.   I want to be known as myself not just a Dr. Timothy Norton's wife, not that there is anything wrong with that.  I used to think that would be alright, then while my husband was in school I decided that working at a job that does not satisfy me.  I am sure that I will reach one of my goals (I pray) within the next five years.

S13:

In five years from now I will be twenty-three years of
age.  I would like to have my degree in business and find
a good supporting job.  I would like to travel around the
United States for a year.  This will give me a chance to
get away from school since I have been going to school for
like seventeen years it is time for a break.  I would like
to be married in a year when I am twenty-four.  Hopefully,
my job will bring me success and I could have a house of
my own. 

S14:

This is where I will be in five years.  I would like to
have a good paying job and a comfortible house.  I'm thinking
about being so kind of engennier, but I'm not sure.

S15:

I think that in five years I would like to be better off than I am now.  Hopefully I will be out of school, and have a better job than i have now.  I am not really sure what I want to do for a living once am out of school, so from that point of view I am not where I will be in five years.  I guess the main thing i want to accomplish within the next five years would be to figure out what I want to do after school, and be working towords whatever that will be.  I am not quite sure where I will be or what I will be doing but hopefully I will be doing something I enjoy.     

S16:

Five years is a long time away, with many roads to take, new things to explore. Right now I don't know what i want to do with my life, one of my main goals is to complete college. That will take about four or five years. By the time I get out of college, I will want to get a decent paying job. With the money I will be making, I would like to have a nice car and a jeep, with a nice stereo system in it. Most likely I will have to pay off college loans. I would like to stay a bacholer (sp?) for a little while. Not too ready for kids at that age yet. These are the things that I would like to do, but That is the future.

S17:

In five years I would want to being doing alot of things.  One of the things  I want to have a acomplished is graduating collge.  Finding a well payed job to support my family when I finaly get married.  I would love to already be in a house.   This is my goal in five years.

S18:

Their are many paths I would love to explore in five years. One is marriage what could be crazier than that. Along with that I would like to see myself haveing kids well not personally but my wife. That is very important to me haveing a loveing family and to care for them. Another asspect is to have a degree in Accounting with a background in Business Management. This is what I am going to school for. So I guess you could say I want a long and fulfilling life with plenty of pleasure.

S19:

I five years I hope to be working as a systems analyst for Amerin Union Electric
or perhaps a free lance programmer.  The courses that I have lined up from myself
which have been carefully weighted and then selected so I will have a positive impact
on my resume when I go to sumbit it to the company of choice.  In addition to that I could
find the beginings of a family.  I also desire a new automobile since my 98 Honda Civic just
is not offering me the power I wish I had on the road. I would think a Pontiac Grand Am GT would be suit the preformance requirements I have  The next five years are going to be filled with financial problems since I will be owing many individuals for their contributions to my cause.  I feel that the donations to me have not been made in vain because I have a focus and will not stop until I have secured my goals.
  
S20:

In five years from now I plan to have graduguated from Meramac with an associate degree in
Criminal Justice: Law Enforcement.  After Meramac I went to Police Acadamy for two years.  Now
I will in my first year as a policeofficer for the St. Louis County Police.  I will be 23 years old and I will
look back and see how fast those five years went.

S21:

I don’t know what I want to be five years from now but I’m kind of interested in being
an electrical engineer. I want to have a enjoyable place to live and a good paying job. Then
I can help out more at our country house and do volunteer work at church.  I would also
like to be able to go to Tippins with my parents for lunch and be able to pay for the meal
and tip.  In conclusion, I would like to live a comfortable life and also have some money to
spend.  Golly, don't I have the typical American dream!

S22:

In five years, I would like to be finished with my classes at Meremec and starting medical school. I would like to start out as being a Liscensed Practitional nurse working my way to a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery. I don't see myself married, but I do see myself in a solid relationship. I think by that time I will have my own apartment in the St. Louis area. I would like to go back to Europe and travel throughout the different countries. I have a dream of sky diving and rock climbing, hopefully within five years I can accomplish this dream. By me being in college now has helped me to explore, recognize, and discipline myself for  what I need to do to get to the end of the five year point in my life.
